What you are comparingYouCam MakeupLookPrep
Best forClose callYouCam Makeup answers “how would fuller lips look on me right now”, on your own moving face, for nothing.LookPrep answers “what do I ask an injector for”, as named looks with a product family and an amount attached.
Price to tryYouCam wins thisYouCam Makeup is free on iOS and Android, and Perfect Corp. says free users get real-time try-ons and face-shaping tools “without ever being forced to subscribe.”LookPrep costs $19 one-time for one to six looks; only the /demo page, which uses pre-generated faces, is free.
Live camera try-onYouCam wins thisPerfect Corp. says the lip filler filter runs in live camera mode, so you see yourself “from different angles” and save it as a photo or video.LookPrep works from one uploaded still photo in a browser: no camera AR mode, no video output.
Adjusting the shapeYouCam wins thisThe Lip Plumper slider moves lip size, width, height and cupid's bow shape, with top and bottom lips adjustable separately and nothing to pay between drags.LookPrep renders the looks and amounts you selected; changing your mind means picking a different look, not dragging a slider.
Range of toolsYouCam wins thisBeyond lips, YouCam Makeup covers makeup try-on, 60+ hairstyles, hair colour, skin retouch, face and body reshaping, outfit swap and AI image generation.LookPrep does lips and lip flip only — no makeup, no hair, no body, no full-face editing.
Reach and track recordYouCam wins thisPerfect Corp. states a “Global Community of 300+ Million Users”, the US App Store shows 4.7 stars from 155K ratings, and the app runs in 35 languages.LookPrep is a small single-purpose web product with no comparable install base or public ratings history.
Named lip looksLookPrep wins thisThe consumer tools expose geometric sliders; Perfect Corp.'s blog names six lip shapes as looks to approximate with them, not as presets you tap.LookPrep's interface is eight named looks — Russian, cherry, cupid's bow definition, natural enhancement, keyhole, heart-shaped, butterfly and doll — each with a standardization grade.
Filler product familiesLookPrep wins thisNo consumer YouCam lip tool references Juvederm, Restylane, RHA or Revanesse; those names appear only in a cost FAQ on Perfect Corp.'s clinic-facing page.LookPrep offers eight filler options across the Juvederm, Restylane, RHA and Revanesse families, as an approximation reference with no affiliation implied.
AmountsLookPrep wins thisNo YouCam consumer page states a dose in mL, and the sliders carry no amount; its clinic page discusses cost “per syringe” instead.LookPrep asks you to pick a real amount before rendering, from 0.3 mL of RHA Redensity up to 3.0 mL of Juvederm Ultra XC.
Lip flip vs fillerLookPrep wins thisYouCam Makeup has no lip flip mode, and its lip tools do not separate a neurotoxin lip flip from added filler volume.Lip flip is its own option in LookPrep, measured in 4 or 6 units rather than mL, everting the upper lip instead of adding volume.
What the output is forClose callYouCam's result is a shareable edited photo or video, framed by Perfect Corp. as a “risk-free visualization” before booking.LookPrep's result is a side-by-side comparison set for a consultation, labelled a planning visual rather than a predicted medical result.
Photo handlingClose callPerfect Corp.'s notice says that for most Services your facial photo and feature vectors are not stored; its App Store label lists User Content as Data Linked to You.LookPrep requires an 18+ gate and recorded photo consent, does not train models on uploaded faces, and takes deletion requests at /delete-data.

02Their strengths

Where YouCam shines

YouCam Makeup is the answer most “best lip filler app” lists give, and it has earned that. Perfect Corp. states a “Global Community of 300+ Million Users”, the App Store listing shows 4.7 stars from 155,000 ratings, and the app runs in 35 languages. If you want to see fuller lips on your own face inside a minute, this is the shortest route.

The lip tooling is deeper than one slider. Retouch → Lip Plumper adjusts lip size, width and height plus the shape of your cupid's bow, and the top and bottom lips can be customised separately. Lip Reshape, Lip Color with 100+ shades and 7 lipstick textures, and Lip Wrinkle smoothing sit next to it.

Then there is the part a still-image preview cannot do. Perfect Corp. says you can use the lip filler filter in live camera mode, see yourself “from different angles”, and “save it as a photo or video.” Turning your head is the quickest test of whether a lip shape suits you, and only a camera can run it.

  • Free at unlimited volume: you can plump your lips a hundred times for $0.
  • Breadth: makeup, 60+ hairstyles, hair colour, skin retouch, AI Facelift, nose and jaw shaping, a body editor, outfit swap and image-to-video.
  • An AI Agent that takes “any beauty or editing task in plain language” and executes it.
  • Perfect Corp.'s business site publishes virtual try-on case studies with M·A·C Cosmetics, Clinique, Aveda, KOSÉ/Decorté and Benefit.

03The difference

Where LookPrep is different

LookPrep is not a camera and not an editor. It takes one uploaded photo in a browser and renders the named lip looks you picked, side by side, so you leave with a comparison set rather than one edited selfie.

The difference that matters is vocabulary. Every look is attached to a treatment and an amount: eight filler options across the Juvederm, Restylane, RHA and Revanesse families, with selectable amounts from 0.3 mL to 3.0 mL, and a ninth option, a lip flip measured in 4 or 6 units of neurotoxin because it everts the upper lip rather than adding volume.

It also publishes how sure it is. Each look carries a standardization grade with cited sources: Russian, cherry, cupid's bow definition and natural enhancement are well-defined; keyhole, heart-shaped and butterfly are marked contested and not published as definite outcomes; doll lips is labelled a marketing term. The output is a planning visual, not a medical prediction.

Two questions, not one product

A lipstick-and-reshape filter answers “how would this look on me right now.” A treatment preview answers “what do I ask an injector for.” Those are different questions, and the tool that answers one is under no obligation to answer the other.

If the answer is no — fuller lips do not suit your face, or the shape reads oddly when you smile — you have learned that free, in a live camera, and YouCam does that better than any paid still-image tool. If it is yes, the next problem is describing what you want to somebody holding a syringe.

“A bit more, but natural” is where consultations go wrong, and that is the problem LookPrep is shaped around. Neither product decides anything medical: an injector's read of your own anatomy outranks either preview.

What this comparison covers

Everything above is scoped to the consumer products — the YouCam Makeup app and YouCam Online Editor. Perfect Corp. also sells a separate clinic-facing AI aesthetic simulation product that does discuss filler brands and a Botox lip flip, so “YouCam has no filler simulation” is wrong about the company and true only of the consumer app.

Their words for the consumer tools: the in-app one is “Lip Plumper”, and the web one is marketed as an “AI Lip Filler Filter”.

What each one does with your photo

Perfect Corp.'s published notice says that for most Services “neither your facial photo/video nor your facial feature vectors will be stored in our database in any form whatsoever”, with carve-outs for emailed photos (3 years), cloud-processed features (deleted after use) and generative-AI models (up to 1 year, with consent). Its App Store listing separately lists User Content under Data Linked to You; both are its own published statements.

LookPrep uploads by design, so it says what happens next: an 18+ gate and recorded photo-processing consent before anything generates, “We do not use uploaded faces to train LookPrep models”, images kept only for recovery, share pages and abuse prevention, and deletion requestable at /delete-data.

App Store figures are the US storefront, and Perfect Corp. says pricing “may vary by region and current promotions”; Apple lists every active SKU, hence several prices per tier. 08Questions people actually ask

Common questions

is YouCam's lip filler filter free?

Yes for the app. YouCam Makeup downloads free on iOS and Android, and Perfect Corp. says free users get real-time try-ons and face-shaping tools “without ever being forced to subscribe.” Premium in-app purchases start at $5.99 a month on the US App Store. The web editor requires signup and gives new users 5 free credits.

can YouCam tell me how much filler I would need?

No. No YouCam consumer page states an amount in mL, and the Lip Plumper slider carries no dose — it moves lip size, width, height and cupid's bow directly. Its clinic-facing page discusses cost per syringe instead. LookPrep does ask you to choose an amount, from 0.3 mL upward, but that is a planning input, not a recommendation.

does YouCam have a lip flip mode?

Not in the consumer app. YouCam Makeup's lip tools are Lip Plumper, Lip Reshape, Lip Color and Lip Wrinkle, and none separates a Botox lip flip from filler; Perfect Corp. explains the difference in a FAQ on its business page for clinics. LookPrep treats a lip flip as its own option, in 4 or 6 units.

does YouCam let me pick Russian lips?

Not as a preset. YouCam's consumer tools give sliders for lip size, width, height and cupid's-bow peak, and Perfect Corp.'s blog names six shapes — Classic Full, Cupid's Bow Definition, Doll Lips/Goddess, Hollywood Glam, Pearl and M-Shaped — as looks to approximate with them. Russian lips is not among them; LookPrep starts from eight named looks, Russian included.

should I use a lip filter or a filler preview before my consultation?

Use the filter first, then the planner. A live-camera filter answers whether fuller lips read well on your face when you talk and turn, and costs nothing to run a hundred times. A treatment preview answers what to ask for: a named look, a product family, an amount in mL or units. Neither replaces an injector's assessment.
