02 — Their strengths

Where FaceApp and Facetune shine

FaceApp has shipped since 2017 and reports more than 500 million Google Play downloads against 5.35 million reviews. That is years of face detection hardened across skin tones, angles and bad lighting, and you feel it in the flow: open the photo, tap once, done. No planning tool is that short a path to a finished picture.

Range is the rest of the case. Sixty-plus filters across twelve folders answer what you look like with a different everything, not one question about one feature. The Easy Compare control at every step is a good decision: before and after stays one press away throughout, not a reveal at the end. Output posts straight to a social account from the phone that took the photo.

Facetune earns its place for the opposite reason, control. Reshape, Refine and Resize are direct manipulation: pinch the screen and move exactly what you want moved, down to a single lip line. Its Lips tool carries Size, Height, Width and Intensity sliders, finer lip geometry than any preset preview offers. It retouches whole video clips, and one subscription covers app and browser editor.

03 — The difference

Where LookPrep is different

LookPrep answers a narrower question: what one named look, at one stated amount, might look like on your face, so there is something concrete to show an injector. The unit is a named look rather than a slider, and the looks are graded. Russian lips, cherry lips, Cupid's bow definition and natural enhancement are published as well-defined; keyhole, heart-shaped and butterfly are marked contested, and doll lips a marketing label.

Under the look sits a treatment and an amount: nine options with real selectable values, 0.55 to 2.0 mL of Juvederm Volbella XC, up to 3.0 mL of Juvederm Ultra XC, 0.3 to 2.8 mL of RHA Redensity, and 4 or 6 units for a lip flip, a different treatment on a different scale that everts the upper lip instead of adding volume.

The output is a side-by-side set you carry into a consultation, not an image to post. It is a planning visual and not a predicted medical result, and it does not assess candidacy, prescribe a product, recommend a dose or replace a qualified provider.

What each product calls a lip

FaceApp publishes no lip-specific tool. Its own filter guide enumerates all twelve folders and the word lips never appears there. The closest published capabilities are lipstick colour inside Makeup and a general enlarge-or-minimize-facial-features bullet on the Play listing; the Sizes folder works on jawline definition and facial width.

Facetune goes considerably further, and a comparison that pretended otherwise would be wrong. It has a named Lips tool, reached through Retouch, then Face, then Lips, with four sliders: Size for volume, Height for vertical fullness, Width for horizontal spread, and Intensity for how natural or dramatic the effect runs. Its January 2025 guide is built around the phrases lip filler filter and lip injection filter, and speaks to readers who are "planning future enhancements" -- filler vocabulary, used by the company about its own product.

What those sliders do not carry is a quantity. Millilitres, units, syringes, hyaluronic acid, botulinum toxin, lip flip and every product family return zero hits across both companies' pages: a retouch control described in filler language, against a preview tied to a named look and a chosen amount.

05 — Detail

Phone, browser, or both

FaceApp is an install: iOS and Android are the only paths its site offers, and no web editor appears on it.

Facetune moved on 18 August 2026, the day these facts were read, and now runs in a browser as well as on both phones, on one subscription. Its announcement calls the web editor a deliberate subset, listing Looks, quick edit and skin glow up, remove object, hair try-on, one-tap enhance and headshots, and saying plainly that the app is the more complete product. Retouch and Reshape are not on that published list, but the post does not enumerate exclusions and says the set will grow, so treat web availability of the Lips tool as unconfirmed rather than as a limitation.

LookPrep is web-first: any modern browser, no install, no account for the demo. Which of the three fits still comes down to which job you are doing.

Where your photo goes

All three upload. FaceApp processes edits on Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services rather than on the device, encrypts them with a key held on your phone, and says photos may remain in the cloud for a maximum limited period of 24 to 48 hours. A Delete Cloud Photo Cache button in settings clears them sooner, and the policy carries no clause about training models on user photos. That ceiling is the shortest published window of the three, and a fair reason to prefer FaceApp if server dwell time is your main concern.

Lightricks locates parts of the face on the device but uploads selected content to its cloud when it creates artwork, storing photos for up to 30 days. It names biometric identifiers explicitly and uses content for AI training only with consent, deleting training data within two years.

LookPrep requires an 18-plus gate and explicit photo-processing consent before any generation runs, and its privacy page states that we do not use uploaded faces to train LookPrep models. Share pages stay private until published, and deletion of stored image objects is requested at /delete-data.

Common questions

can faceapp show me what lip filler would look like?

No lip-specific tool appears in anything FaceApp publishes. Its own filter guide lists all twelve folders, from Impression and Skin through Age, Gender and Glasses, and never mentions lips. What it does offer is lipstick colour inside Makeup and a general control to enlarge or minimize facial features. Filler, millilitres and lip flip appear nowhere.

facetune has a lip filler filter, so is that the same as a filler preview?

Not the same thing, though it is closer than most filters get. Facetune's Lips tool is real, with Size, Height, Width and Intensity sliders, and its guide markets it as a lip filler filter. But those sliders are geometry. No millilitre amount, product family, lip flip or named look appears in Facetune's pages, so the result is an edit rather than a plan tied to a dose.

do i need to install an app to preview lip filler?

For FaceApp, yes: it is iOS and Android only, with no web version on its site. Facetune added a browser editor on 18 August 2026, covering a published subset of its tools and requiring a sign-in, and it does not say whether the Lips control is reachable there. LookPrep runs in any modern browser, with no install and no account for the demo.
