Where Liply shines
Liply is the closest neighbour in this whole comparison set. It is not a makeup filter with a lip slider bolted on; it is a consumer treatment-preview app that exists for the same reason LookPrep does, which is that people want to see something before they book it.
Its distribution is the part a website cannot copy. Installing from the App Store means Apple ID billing with no card typed into a web form, one-tap cancellation in iOS Settings, refunds arbitrated by Apple, a review pass before each release, and an Apple-attested privacy label that currently reads “The developer does not collect any data from this app.” That is a consumer-protection wrapper a checkout page does not have.
It is also broader and, past a point, cheaper. Four treatment categories sit under one subscription, and $29.99 a year buys unlimited previews across all of them. Someone who wants to see fuller lips, a brighter smile and a different hair colour in one evening gets all three from Liply and would need several products otherwise.

Where LookPrep is different
LookPrep does one treatment area and publishes the vocabulary for it. Liply's lip output is described in intensity terms — subtle, or fuller and plumper. LookPrep's is described the way a consultation is: a named look, a product family, and an amount.
That means eight filler options across the Juvederm, Restylane, RHA and Revanesse families with selectable amounts from 0.3 mL to 3.0 mL, and a ninth option that is not filler at all — a lip flip in 4 or 6 units of neurotoxin, kept separate because it everts the upper lip rather than adding volume. Naming those families is nominative reference for approximation only; none of their manufacturers is affiliated with LookPrep or endorses it.
LookPrep also grades its own labels. Russian, cherry, cupid's bow definition and natural enhancement are published as well-defined looks with cited sources. Keyhole, heart-shaped and butterfly are marked contested, because clinical and trade sources describe materially different results under the same name, so they are not presented as one definite outcome. Liply's own framing is the fairest description of the split. Its terms put it in the entertainment and visualization category and state plainly that it is not a medical application. LookPrep aims one rung further along the same road: not a medical prediction either, but a planning visual built to be carried into a consultation and pointed at.
So the honest question is not which app is better. It is which moment you are in. Browsing several possible changes to your face is Liply's moment. Having settled on lips and needing to say what you want out loud is LookPrep's.

What each one does with your photo
Both send your face to a server; neither runs on your device. Liply's policy says the image is transmitted to OpenAI's image generation API to generate the preview, claims zero retention with images immediately discarded, and states that images are never used for training. Apple's privacy label for the listing shows no data collected.
LookPrep gates generation behind an 18-plus confirmation and a recorded photo-processing consent event, states that uploaded faces are not used to train LookPrep models, keeps images only for recovery, share pages, purchase support and abuse prevention, and accepts deletion requests for account data, session data, stored images and share pages. Share pages stay private until you publish them.

Things worth checking yourself
Two details are worth a look before you spend anything. Liply's current build, version 1.0.2, is dated 26 January 2026, so features may have moved since; and its public pages do not state how many previews you get before the paywall, so “free to try” is not a quantity we can quote.
On the other side, LookPrep has no live camera, no video, and no way to preview anything that is not lips. If what you actually want is to turn your head and watch a shape move, neither this page nor LookPrep is the answer.
